december recap marathon [drm]: office Christmas party

Before I even received my official job offer, my soon-to-be-boss told me to clear my schedule hire a dog sitter for the night of the upcoming office Christmas party.  This is the second year in a row that I have started a new job during the holiday season and let me tell you—it is the best time to start in a new place.  Parties, candy trays, white elephant gift exchanges, & office lunch potlucks are just a few of the many perks of starting during this time J.

So, two weeks into my tenure at the firm, Jeff & I donned our best and joined my new co-workers & their spouses at the House of Blues for a fun night of delicious eats, ‘gambling’, & prize drawings.  I felt like a true A-lister.   We were directed to enter thru the side entrance where we were met and led by a personal escort to the elevator that opened up right into the private party.  Upon arrival we were given food & drink tickets and poker ships that were to be used at ‘Casino Hour’.  At the end of the night, our poker chip stacks [and yes, two is considered a ‘stack’!] were traded in for tickets to be entered into a drawing. 

The night ended with six-$200 Visa gift card winners, one proud owner of a two-night stay in Las Vegas, and one happy & slightly exhausted girl who’s feet hurt from the new, 4.5” heels that she just had to have and just had to wear [me].  Although we didn’t win anything between the two of us, the night was a lot of fun and I enjoyed getting to introduce Jeff to everyone.
